This page lists co-ops and groups which meet regularly. They range from informal (a small pod of families) to formal (larger group with an administrative structure and specialized teachers), specific (e.g. meeting for nature hikes) to general.

Some groups do not have an official web presence - you may be able to find these by checking with a larger homeschool group such as HEART, or inquiring online at San Mateo/Peninsula Homeschoolers Facebook Group and SF Bay Area Homeschoolers Facebook

Academics/Classes


A T.E.A.M Homeschool Community Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, San Jose, San Mateo
Various subjects for Pre-K to 12th. Secular.

Classes offered three days a week.
Bean In Nature - Marissa Bean Nature Programs San Mateo and San Jose
Explore subjects like science, math, poetry, art, geography, history and environmental stewardship through nature. Different programs for 3 to 18 years. Secular.
Meets weekly.
Classical Conversations
Redwood City, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, San Jose, San Francisco.

Use their Community Search to find a location.

Nationwide network with their own curriculum framework.

Meets once a week, day varies by location.
Emmaus Road San Jose
Various subjects, focused on high school. Christian, but does not require statement of faith of students.

Meets once to twice a week, depending on the class, usually Tuesdays and Fridays.
Environmental Volunteers - Homeschool Fridays Palo Alto and adjacent parks
Environmental exploration for 6-11 years old, mostly in Palo Alto or South Bay. Secular.
Monthly on Friday.
HEART Academy San Jose
Various subjects offered for 3rd-12th grade, including special needs. Some extracurriculars open to all families.

Meets weekly on Fridays.
Live Oak Academy Santa Clara
Various subjects for K-12, classical focus. Christian.

Meets twice a week for elementary, three times a week for middle and high. Families may also sign up for specific classes rather than the full day.
PETRA Cupertino
Bible study for mothers with unit studies (history-intensive) for students.

Meets every Thursday during school year.
Pioneer Family Academy San Jose, Campbell
Classes from preschool to high school.

Meets every Thursday during school year.
Promises Online Academy All California
Online classes, independent study, dual enrollment.
Quantum Camp - Homeschool Online/as arranged
Math and Science classes from elementary to high school.

Constructivist, secular.

Formerly met in Palo Alto, but now online - families can gather a cohort and schedule synchronous learning sessions together, lab kits will be mailed. 
True Roots Nature - Homeschool Program San Jose and other South Bay nature parks
Homeschool supplemental program for preschool to 5th grade. Multi-subject, project-based learning. Secular.


Clubs

American Heritage Girls (AHG) Redwood City and several South Bay locations
Christ-centered character and leadership development program for girls 5 to 18 years of age.

Troop meets weekly, although groups may meet on specific days for activities.
Calvary San Mateo - Study Hall
San Mateo


Supports Christian families currently or interested in homeschooling. Hosts a study hall which is open to all.
Study Hall meets once a week, other activities vary.
CHARM - A Charlotte Mason group
San Francisco


A Charlotte Mason homeschool community that aims to connect with the wonder of God in creation and culture.
Meets weekly on Fridays.
Children's Choir/Handbell Choir - CCMIW
Daly City


Children's and Handbell Choir for K5-6th grades.
Meets weekly on Thursdays.
Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior (GEMS) Palo Alto
Club for K-8th girls to grow to love and serve Jesus, as well as develop friendships with other girls and counselors.
Meets weekly on Sunday afternoons.
Main Street Scholars - Clubs Half Moon Bay
Main Street Scholars offers micro-school for grades 7-12, but its clubs are open to all (with fee). Secular.
Meeting frequency varies by activity, usually weekly.
Trinity Presbyterian - Worship Arts San Carlos
Chancel Bells - High school and up.
In previous years, they also offered a children's choir for K-3rd grades.

Private School Satellite Programs (PSPs)

Some PSPs can help members find community. The following PSPs are local and have experienced directors who can organize or suggest additional opportunities to meet.
Kings Academy PSP Sunnyvale
Support for grades K-12. Linked to The Kings Academy (TKA) in Sunnyvale.
PSP students in good standing may participate in TKA extracurricular activities and enroll in TKA courses on campus (space permitting).
To participate in high school athletics, PSP students must be enrolled in 20-semester credits of TKA courses.
Ocean View PSP Half Moon Bay
Suggestions for classes and resources, especially coastside. K-8th students.

Oceanview PSP is directed by a HEART member, Hannah, who has years of experiencing homeschooling her own family and mentoring others.
Her philosophy is that anyone can homeschool, and she looks forward to helping families explore the freedom of homeschooling.
Peach Blossom PSP South Bay
Field trips, suggestions for classes. Supports K-12th students.

Stephanie has a wealth of experience both in homeschooling her own children (now graduated) and helping other families navigate the homeschooling landscape.
